Support and Licensing
Different parts of Reahl are licensed differently.
Feel free to contact us to negotiate granting exceptions to the relevant license.
Parts of Reahl are licensed under the provisions of the GNU Lesser General Public License, version 3. Your code can use this code without implication for the licensing of your own code.
These parts of Reahl are LGPL licensed:
All other components are related to the web framework, and are licensed under the provisions of the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3.
In layman's terms, the Affero GPL gives you permission to use, change or redistribute the code it licenses, at the cost of your having to adhere to some restrictions. Foremost amongst these restrictions is the requirement that you also have to make your source code available under the Affero GPL (at no cost) if users use your program via a network, such as via a web browser.
Please read the laywerspeak on the Affero GPL, version 3 itself.
If you find these restrictions unacceptable, feel free to contact us to negotiate granting exceptions to the restriction of the AGPL.
We think that's a fair deal.
Reahl will always be available under a suitable free software license.
Regardless of the licensing option chosen, you can buy commercial support from Reahl Software Services.
There are many ways in which you might find paid support useful. Here are some examples:
- Custom styling for widgets.
- New widgets you envision, but don't feel like developing.
- Reusable regions (that you don't like to build yourself).
- Scaling up Reahl systems.
If you need paid support or help, please talk to us, we're still formalising how all of this will work!
